To believe or not to believe? by ~RussianCherub:iconRussianCherub:

Unicorns:Fact or fiction? For centuries people have asked and argued that question, and no one,in all those years, has found the answer. Are unicorns living, breathing creatues,or are they a fantasy made up by a dreamer on a sleepy spring day? Well, the answer to this question is simple:no one (no human anyway) will ever know. Do you know why we will never know? Because we weren't meant to know. If unicorns are real and human kind did know it,they would somehow destroy them,by either experimenting on them or worse, putting them in zoos. Unicorns are the perfect mix of beauty, ,joy, love, and grace. Human kind is perfect at destroying things made up of such gifts. As for believing in unicorns:I do believe in them, and I always will. You may think this sounds childish, because you've never seen one, and to be perfectly honest, neither have I. But there are also a great many things, places, and animals I've never seen, and I can give you proof that they exist. I'm sure that all of you that are reading this have never seen the very bottom of the ocean, but you know it's there.

If you still aren't convinced or reluctant to believe that unicorns are real, then you could argue the fact that if they did live on this planet,we would have found them by now. Well, that's a good point, but how do you know that they can't just hide themselves well.Or,how do you also know that they could live in a whole other world that we just don't know exists. If you say we would have found another world I have this anwser:how do you know? We aren't so advanced that we can find anything and everything. To dismiss the idea of unicorns would be like dismissing everything on this planet worth living for. We need them here, now more than ever before. We are destroying all the beautiful and wonderous things on this planet, and I know that they are watching us in sadness and in anger. They have come here in body and spirit. They may have left in body long ago, but some of their spirit remains, and if we continue on the path we're on now, we'll lose them completely. They will believe that it is too late for us and this world to be saved, and although it may sadden them to leave, they'll feel it would be a hopeless persuit to stay.

So I will end this with a piece of advice to both sides:the believers, and the non-believers. To the believers, I have this to say: don't give up. You are the only people keeping them here. No matter what people say, or how childish they think you are, you need to cling to your belief. If you don't, we'll lose the one that's keeping all of us from losing the things that keep this world beautiful, all the things that make it worth getting up in the morning. Keep your faith, and the unicorns will always be by your side, even though sometimes there are problems that not even they can help you with.

To the non-believers, I have this to say:many of you will never believe in unicorns, and if you're that firm on your opinion, then there's nothing I or anyone else will say to convince you. Now I'm not going to say that by not believing in unicorns you're destroying the earth, or that you'll be unhappy for the rest of your lives. If fact, I'm sure most if not all of you will have perfectly happy lives. But I will say this: you will never be able to look at life and see the true beauty of it. And I don't mean the beauty of green grass or a field of flowers. I mean the beauty behind that beauty, the knid of beauty that unicorns are made of. Because in front of that beauty is a veil, a veil as delicate and fragile as lace, and as strong and resistant as stainless steel. That veil can only be moved by dreamers and believers, not just in unicorns, but in most other things that can't be proven. And trust me, if you can't push aside that veil, you are truly missing out on something wonderous, magical, and mystical.

I have now come to the real end of this peice of work. I do hope that, believer or not, you have come away with something that you will think about for a while, whether it be good or bad. Also remember to have faith, and to never give up on anything you believe in. If you do that, then the unicorns will stay a little longer.

I'm not really sure I'd call this fiction. It's just an essay I wrote about unicorns. I believe it's true, but I suppose it's fiction until proven. Anywho, hope you like.
